One of the things that champions do best is they are always conquering something.
Every day they are mastering something new.
Every day there is something new to conquer.
Every time you conquer something, you are taken to a new level of success in life.
Recently I saw a quote from @DrMikeMurdock on Twitter:
What you refuse to master today will master you tomorrow
I liked this so much that I re-posted this quote on Facebook. Very soon a reply was posted on my wall.
It said:
When Jesus is introduced in our lives he comes and destroys every habit that destroys our selves and builds up habits that draw us closer to Him… Thank you for sharing this.. God bless you….
Now that sounds like a great reply right? It was, yet it contained an error in focus. What?? An error in focus, you might be thinking. How so?
Well here is what I replied back:
Yes, Jesus gives us the power to destroy all of these things in our lives – it is His power that does it. BUT it is you and I who DECIDE to use this power. (See John 1:12).
“Apply” this power – may be a better word than “use” this power. Remember God did not create us to be puppets. He gave us the tools, now it is up to us to USE them.
You and I will always have our own free will to make decisions and many of them, every day. (This is something that is so easy to forget in our walk with the Lord. He does not want to control us. He is looking for children, coworkers and friends who will follow Him with ACTION because they love Him).
The response came back:
Yes ma’am!!
Now I know that the young person I was talking to is a warrior of action. I know they did not just say “yet ma’am” to me, but to herself and to God.
What is YOUR response – not to me, but to yourself and to God? And remember, what you don’t master, will eventually master you.
P.S. If you are not sure what you may need to master, here is something to think about:
@Doug Bench (the brain training guy on Twitter) made this comment: Out of every 100 thoughts created by the brain of average person, 80 of them are negative. Thinking is a discipline-think positive thoughts!
This is definitely one area of yours and my life that we need to learn to master every day!
