Born To WinThe bible says we where born in sin and far from God, I do not recall ever reading a scripture that says ‘We are born to win’. We are not saved through training, we are saved by grace“, commented a recent visitor to this blog.

I appreciate such comments very much, because they cause me to do some more research. This is always a good way to strengthen your faith and to REALLY know what you believe.

Here are my findings:

Feet WalkingOne of my “Mexican parents” who is now waiting for us in heaven. Gertrudes Pohlenz would often be heard saying: “La fe tiene pies” (Faith has feet).

What does this actually mean? There is a verse in the Bible that puts this in another way. You can find it in James 2:20, where the apostle James is found saying: “Faith without works is dead”.

In the first chapter of this same Epistle he is found exhorting his readers to “become doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

In other words, faith that is not expressed with actions is not real faith. In fact it is simply mental assent and the devil himself has that (even the demons believe and shudder – James 2:19).

You were born with the seed of your destiny in your heart AND with the potential capacity and ability to achieve your destiny. But it will not happen automatically.

New Year Fireworks in Singapore2011 WILL be fabulous year for you, IF you:

  • Decide it will.
  • Plan for it to happen and
  • Take strategic action every day!

If you do nothing different, 2011 will be just another year.

How can I say that?

Positive change does not happen for the passive.
It only happens when you take action!

Champions are bornGail Devers remained dedicated to her mission despite the battle with a thyroid disease that did it’s best to stop her in her tracks.

The coveted gold medal in the hurdles race did allude her. BUT her dedication to her mission despite the obstacles she faced won her 2 gold medals.

In an interview with the press, Gail mentioned six keys to her success as an Olympic Champion. We have already considered five of these keys:
1. Keep Your Dream Alive
2. Believe In Yourself
3. Your Vision
4. Hard Work
5. Determination

Gail did miss winning the hurdles, the event in which she had won 10 national championships and 3 world championships. An archilles tendon and hamstrung injuries forced her out of this race.

Failure?
She was expected to win this race and when she did not, many were saying that she had failed her mission.

DeterminationThere is no doubt that determination was one of Gail Dever’s keys to her success as an Olympic Champion.

In spite of excruciating pain from a thyroid problem, Gail still managed to win 2 gold medals in the 2004 event.

The small print that is written under the word “Determination” on this image says:

Never give up no matter how much you may want to”.

I am sure that during those Olympic games in 2004, there were many times that Gail Devers wanted to give up and it would not have been a passing thought.

No doubt her body was screaming to give up at as she pushed forward to achieve the very best she could deliver. But she did not listen to the thoughts and emotions that were trying to stop her. Instead she kept going. Because of her determination, she triumphed.

In one of her interviews with the press, Gail attributes her success to 6 keys.

We have already considered four of these keys:
1. Keep Your Dream Alive
2. Believe In Yourself
3. Your Vision
4. Hard Work

The 5th key is Determination.
Have you ever seen a champion athlete who lacks determination? I am sure you have not.
