Christmas Lights, Nativity SetThis poem inspired by the “Night Before Christmas” was written by an unknown author.

Do take a few minutes from your busy schedule to stop and read this and think about why we are celebrating this special season.

Above all, let us remember the greatest gift of all.

Twas’ the night Jesus came and all through the house,
Not a person was praying, not one in the house.

The Bible was left on the shelf without care,
for no one thought Jesus would ever come there.

Christ on the crossI am sure that you have seen a movie or live passion play either on TV, outdoors or on stage. No movie or play really does justice to the actual suffering, the excruciating pain and suffering that Jesus went through at that time. (And He did it willing for you and me).

I am also sure that at least one question has crossed your mind.

Hope of ResurrectionIf the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Ephesians 1:20 (ESV)

This is the HOPE that the resurrection brings to you and me.

My prayer for YOU today is that your eyes may be opened to the fullness of what God has done for you in Christ.

  1. Christ died to settle the debt of your sins. All you need to do is to believe that. No more guilt allowed!
  2. He rose from the dead so you can life in the abundance of life. Take a look at John 10:10.
  3. All that is left for you to do is to TRULY believe (with all of your heart, mind and soul) and receive what He has done (which you demonstrate by the way you live). Matthew 22:37-39 and Hebrews 11:6.

I will never forget an illustration that Bob Mumford gave while he was in New Zealand many years ago:
