One of the interesting studies I like to do from the Bible is to follow the records of God’s call to many of the personalities who appear in this library of books (known as the Holy Bible). It is amazing to note just how human each of them were. They were no different from you and me. If they can achieve great things, so can you and I!
One of these significant records is that of the Call of Jeremiah. Here is an outline of the call of Jeremiah. I am sure you can identify with some of these stages that Jeremiah went through.
If you would like to read more about any of these stages of Jeremiah’s call, you can click on the red heading of any of the points.
God called Jeremiah to do the impossible
God knows that you and I are all capable of doing so much more than we are doing. After all He created us. God will always cause you to move outside of our comfort zone into a new height in your life.
I am sure that even today, there is a challenge set before you. Does this obstacle seem too hard for you? Remember with God NOTHING is impossible. You have the skills and the ability to overcome anything that crosses your path. Of course you have an added strength if you are walking with God in obedience to Him.
Why did God call Jeremiah? Because He was planning to show Jeremiah that nothing is impossible with God.
Responding to God’s call
Jeremiah responded to God’s call with an objection, “I can’t speak, I am only a child”.
When you sense God calling you to something new, what is your reaction? If you focus on your own abilities, you may well join with Jeremiah to say “I can’t because … ”
When you feel God calling, you be sure to focus on His ability not on your ability.
Who does our destiny depend on?
A big mistake that is made by some folk when they sense God calling is to respond and then expect God to do everything.
Our walk with God is a partnership. This means that we are also to be an ACTIVE partner. There are no passive partners in God’s team.
God wanted Jeremiah to be a partner with Him. He wants you too to become partners with Him.
We are always called to win
Remember when things seem impossible and the road gets tough, you are called to WIN! After all you were created to be a champion
I am sure you can find some areas of Jeremiah’s call that you can relate to. If Jeremiah was able to follow his call in life, I know you can follow your call too. You are in for a great adventure!
