In the last article Are You The Champion You Were Born To Be? we looked at two of the three key words found in the Bible verse John 1:12.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right (or power) to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name”. (This is the New American Standard Translation of the Bible).
These three key words are:
1. But (See previous article).
2. Received (See previous article).
3. Power or Right
The original language in which the New Testament of the Bible was written was greek. The greek word was translated into English by some translators as “right” while other translators use the word “power”. The original greek word actually means both “power” and “right and even “authority”.
Now this is does not mean you automatically become a fully grown child of God when you first receive Christ into your life. The promise is that you are given the power to become a child of God (the meaning here is “mature child of God). This means you now have the power, right and authority to develop as an adult child of God (the champion you were born to be).
Becoming a genuinely mature adult comes from experience, development, training and learning. It does not happen over night.
Maturity in any area of life certainly does not happen by cramming your mind with theory or even by passing a few exams. No! It comes by learning and putting what you learn into practice. By training (exercising your learned skills).
It takes consistent, diligent development.
You have to learn to use the power and authority you were given to grow and develop into that mature person you were destined to be. And what is a fully grown child of God? He or she is a well trained and developed champion.
Here’s a thought:
Would you give a child access to ALL of his or her inheritance?
Of course not! It is only as they mature enough to be able to administrate their inheritance that you would allow them to have it, right? And being the responsible parent that you are, you would release it to them a little at a time.
In the same way, God releases your inheritance to you according to your maturity, or level of development.
Now here’s another thought:
A great definition of maturity that I have learned over the years is: Being able to give out more than you receive.
Are you seeking to give more than you receive in life? Or are you still at the place where you believe that this world (and those around you) owe you something?
Remember, your destiny or purpose in life includes making a difference in other people’s lives. This is a primary focus of a true champion in life. A true champion is focused on GIVING, not on receiving.
Are you using the power, right and authority given to you to become a fully matured son or daughter of God?
This is how you will be able to reach your highest potential of maturity as a champion!
